What is the single most important truth of our Christian faith? Beyond all teachings and miracles, one event stands as the absolute foundation: The Resurrection.

Early on the first day of the week, a group of women went to Jesus' tomb, carrying spices. They expected to find His body, but instead, they encountered something astonishing. The stone was rolled away, and the tomb was empty.

Luke 24:1-6
BSB
1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared.
2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were puzzling over this, suddenly two men in radiant apparel stood beside them.
5 As the women bowed their faces to the ground in terror, the two men asked them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?
6 He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee:
BSB

Greatly perplexed, they were met by two men in shining garments who asked, 'Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!' They reminded the women of Jesus' own words about His crucifixion and resurrection on the third day.

And they remembered His words. Returning from the tomb, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and other women shared this incredible news with the apostles. Yet, their words seemed like idle tales.

Despite the disbelief, Peter ran to the tomb. Stooping down, he saw only the linen cloths lying by themselves. He departed, marveling to himself at what had happened. This was just the beginning of understanding.

It's been said, 'Everything Rises and Falls on Leadership.' But when it comes to our Christian faith, to the very veracity and validity of what we believe, everything rises and falls on The Resurrection.

As Martin Luther powerfully stated:

"For without the resurrection, we have no Gospel and we have no such thing as Christianity."

If Christ had not risen, all His claims, all His teachings, all His miracles could be doubted and dismissed. But thank God, He did rise!

1. The Resurrection Validates Jesus' Every Claim

The resurrection serves as the ultimate proof that everything Jesus said and did was truly on our behalf and was accepted by the Father. We can place our full faith and trust in Him, knowing He is exactly who He says He is, with resurrection proof backing His every word.

2. A Guarantee of Victory & Hope

This was an ultimate act of love, the crowning act of redemption. It demonstrates His profound love for us. He not only died for our justification, but He rose again as a guarantee of our victory in the here and now, and in the future. Because of the resurrection, we have an unshakeable hope and a guaranteed future in Him. We can experience resurrection life today!

3. A Risen King, Not a Dead Savior

He may have come the first time as a Suffering Servant, but His resurrection confirms He is a risen King. He will return as a Conquering King, with all power in His hands. And because of this, we join in singing a new song, declaring that 'the kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ.' Amen!

This week, let the truth of the resurrection transform your perspective.

  • Reflect on the certainty it brings to your faith.
  • Embrace the victory and hope it guarantees for your life.
  • Live as though you serve a risen King, for you do!

May the power of His resurrection fill you with joy and purpose.
