The Path Through Pain

Life brings moments of deep hurt. Sometimes, things happen that we simply cannot foresee or control. In these times, it feels like we're navigating a fog, searching for clarity and a way forward.

But what if the very act of facing that hurt is the key to something greater? What if patience leads to peace, and letting go of what we cling to allows us to truly break free?

And watch what happens when I break free
And just be, just be, me
Just be, just be, just be, me

This journey to freedom begins with a profound realization: the power of truth.

John 8:32
BSB
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
BSB
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

This timeless wisdom reminds us that understanding and embracing truth are fundamental to our liberation from pain and its grip.

The Purpose of Hurt

Has anyone been hurt? The answer is universally yes. It's a fundamental part of the human experience. Yet, often, we see hurt as a roadblock rather than a pathway.

  • Without hurt, we cannot truly access healing.
  • Hurt gives us the opportunity to heal.

It’s a paradox: the very thing that causes us pain also provides the fertile ground for our deepest recovery.

Defining Healing

HEALING is the process of overcoming. Challenges come, hurt comes. The real question is: can we move past it, or do we choose to dwell in resentment and pain indefinitely?

Some people, like my wife and my mom, seem to move on quickly. They embody the spirit of progress, demonstrating that healing is not about ignoring the pain, but actively working through it.

UNDER: God as Our Foundation

When dealing with hurt, UNDER God has to be the first person we go to. He is the beginning of our healing.

Through Him, we are able to free ourselves. Turning to a higher power provides a foundation of strength and guidance that helps us navigate the most difficult emotional landscapes.

RIGHT: Focusing on What Happened

In hurt, it’s not about who is RIGHT or wrong as much as it is about what happened. Focusing on assigning blame often traps us in a cycle of bitterness.

When we shift our focus to understanding the events themselves, we give ourselves the opportunity to move on. This perspective allows for empathy and a path toward resolution, rather than endless conflict.

TRUTH: The Key to Access

Without TRUTH, there is no access to healing. Being truthful, both with ourselves and with others, unlocks the door to recovery.

When you are truthful, you get healed. And what happens then is that others also get healed by having access to your authentic journey. Truth creates a ripple effect of healing.

In Closing: Embracing Understanding

As we conclude, let’s reflect on these vital takeaways:

  • Learn to react to hurt from a place of understanding. This changes our immediate response and long-term outcome.
  • In all your getting, get understanding. It is the most valuable asset in navigating life's challenges.
  • Hurt is for your good. I know it’s bad, it’s painful, but ultimately, it serves a purpose in our growth and development.

The Nature of HURT

Let's consider the definitions of HURT more deeply:

  1. To inflict with physical pain: WOUND

Can you get wounded without someone physically inflicting pain on you? Absolutely. Words, betrayals, and unforeseen circumstances can leave deep wounds.

  1. To do substantial or material harm to: DAMAGE

Can you get damaged when things are not damaged around you? Yes. Our inner world can be severely damaged even when our external circumstances appear intact.

  1. To cause emotional pain or anguish to: OFFEND

Being offended creates pain. It's a natural human reaction, and acknowledging this pain is the first step toward processing it and moving towards healing.

A Journey, Not a Destination

The journey from hurt to healing is not a single event, but a continuous process. It requires courage, patience, and a willingness to embrace truth and understanding.

May you find freedom in your own healing journey, allowing every experience, even the painful ones, to shape you into who you are meant to be.
