In this passage, Jesus is closing the sermon on the mount. He’s closing out these teachings with a WARNING. It was not sufficient to "hear" them; they must be "obeyed."

The Amalekites were the primary enemy that prevented Israel’s access into the promise land!

In 1 Samuel 30, King David is at one of the lowest moments of his life. He’s discouraged, defeated, and betrayed. His family was carried off as plunder and his men are talking about stoning him because of their pain.
