1 Corinthians 1:26-29
BSB
26 Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
28 He chose the lowly and despised things of the world, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are,
29 so that no one may boast in His presence.

Ephesians 1:5-6
BSB
5 He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will,
6 to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One.

Life Lessons from Jesus the Ultimate Underdog

1. The Law of Awareness:

You can't receive what you don't perceive.

John 1:10-12
BSB
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.
11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12 But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God—

John 1:10-11
BSB
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.
11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
BSB

Jesus was hidden in plain sight.

John 1:45-46
BSB
45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, the One the prophets foretold—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46 “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.

2. The Law of Affirmation:

Whoever you allow to crown you, you will owe your allegiance to.

John 2:23
BSB
23 While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the signs He was doing and believed in His name.
BSB

If you need them, you can't lead them.

Those who live for the applause of men will eventually die from their criticism.

Live for an audience of One.

Affirmation:

Matthew 3:17
BSB
17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”
BSB

Alignment:

Luke 22:39-42
BSB
39 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed Him.
40 When He came to the place, He told them, “Pray that you will not enter into temptation.”
41 And He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, where He knelt down and prayed,
42 “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
BSB

Assignment:

John 5:19
BSB
19 So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
BSB

3. The Law of Adoption:

You are chosen by God, therefore, your acceptance is on His unconditional love not your performance.

Adoption: the process of taking someone or something by choice into a relationship.

Romans 8:15-17
BSB
15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
17 And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.

Psalms 27:10
BSB
10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
