Harbor Light family, I want to try something different this week. Instead of a prayer list, I want to walk us through a prayer exercise. It takes about three minutes. You can do it right now, wherever you are.
Close your eyes. Think about the last time you were in public — the grocery store, the school pickup line, the gas station. Picture one person you saw but didn't speak to. Maybe the cashier who looked exhausted. The man sitting alone in his car. The teenager with headphones staring at the ground. You don't know their name. But God does.
Scripture Passage
BSB
7 Seek the prosperity of the city to which I have sent you as exiles. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
BSB
"Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you... and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare." This verse isn't a suggestion. It's a mission. We're not just in this city — we're sent to this city.
Pray with us now: Father, we lift up the people in our city we never think to pray for — • The overnight nurse finishing a 12-hour shift • The single dad making breakfast before work • The teacher who cried in her car before first period • The business owner who doesn't know how to make payroll • The teenager who feels invisible • The elderly neighbor who hasn't had a visitor in weeks Lord, let us see them. Really see them. And give us the courage to show up — not with answers, but with presence.
A CHALLENGE FOR THIS WEEK: Pick one person you interact with regularly but have never really talked to — a barista, a coworker, a neighbor. Learn their name. Ask how they're actually doing. Pray for them by name this week. That's it. One person. One name. One prayer. Sometimes the most powerful ministry isn't a program — it's paying attention.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRAYER GATHERING 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary This week we're praying specifically for our local schools and first responders. Bring a friend. Bring a burden. Leave it here.
