If you are running on empty, this is for you. Pastoral encouragement for seasons of burnout and weariness.
Dear friend,
I see you.
You are the one who shows up every Sunday with a smile, but by Monday morning you are already running on fumes. You are carrying things nobody knows about. The job. The marriage. The kid who will not talk to you. The bill that will not go away.
You are tired. Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes.
Jesus does not say "try harder."
He says "come to me." Not "figure it out." Not "pray more." Not "have more faith." Just... come.
There is a difference between rest and quitting. Rest is not giving up. It is admitting you were never meant to carry it all alone.
What exhaustion might be telling you:
1. You are carrying something that was never yours to carry.
2. You have been giving from a well that has not been refilled.
3. You are measuring your worth by your output instead of your identity.
Exhaustion is not a spiritual failure. It is often a signal that something needs to shift.
A prayer for the exhausted:
Lord, I am tired. Not just in my body, but in my soul. I have been trying to be strong for everyone, and I have nothing left. I do not even know what to ask for. So I am just showing up. Here I am. Hold me together today. Amen.
3 small things for this week:
1. Say no to one thing. Just one. Give yourself permission.
2. Tell someone the truth. "I am not doing great right now." That is enough.
3. Sit in silence for 5 minutes. No phone. No prayer list. Just be.
You are not behind.
You are not failing. You are not forgotten. God is not disappointed in you. He is not tapping His foot waiting for you to get it together.
He is right here. And He is gentle.
If you need prayer, reach out to us. That is what we are here for. You do not have to do this alone.
With love,
Pastor Michael and the Harbor Light team
